San Antonio church donates more than 1,800 gifts to children in protective custody

SAN ANTONIO – With the holidays around the corner, several children patiently await Christmas day to receive their gifts, but one local church is ensuring children in protective custody will have a present this year!

Summit Christian Center located on Marshall near 281 Highway donated more than 1,800 gifts to children in Bexar County Child Protective Services. The church pastor says they have been donating gifts for nearly 20 years and the COVID-19 pandemic was not going to deter them from carrying on with the tradition.

“It has been our great joy at Summit Christian Center to provide gifts to every child in Bexar County Child Protective Services since 2008,” said Pastor Rick Godwin. “These kids deserve a Merry Christmas. Our hope is that they know they matter, and that God loves them.”

And officials with Bexar County could not be more appreciative!

“We have been partnering with Summit Christian Congregation for years now, to bring holiday cheer to our children in foster care,” Leticia Lozano, Bexar County Conservatorship Program Administrator added. “This has been an immense blessing for our families, as our children are sponsored by such a caring community that often grants every single item on their wish list. We cannot thank the church enough for what they do for our children, we only pray that their blessings are multiplied for their graciousness.”
